And I am not one who rejects the greatness of Hazrat<br />

‘Īsā as . God has informed me that the Masīh of the<br />

<strong>Muhammad</strong>an dispensation is greater in status<br />

compared <strong>to</strong> the Masīh of the Mosaic dispensation.<br />

However, I have great respect for Masīh as Ibn<br />

Mariam because, in terms of spirituality, I am the<br />

Khātam-ul-Khulafā’ in Islām just as Masīh Ibn Mariam<br />

was the Khātam-ul-Khulafā’ for the Israelite<br />

dispensation. In the Mosaic dispensation, Ibn Mariam<br />

was the Promised Messiah and in the <strong>Muhammad</strong>an<br />

dispensation, I am the Promised Messiah. Hence, I<br />

respect him who has the same name as me and only a<br />

mischievous one and a liar would say <strong>to</strong> me that I do<br />

no respect Masīh as Ibn Mariam 38 .<br />

It is clear from the context of the above quotation that Hazrat<br />

Mirzā Ghulām Ahmad as is not using the word khātam <strong>to</strong> speak<br />

of the finality of the Khilāfah of Hazrat ‘Īsā as in terms of time. He<br />

is actually speaking of Hazrat ‘Īsā’s as finality in terms of status<br />

because he compares him <strong>to</strong> himself and states that he is the<br />

Khātam-ul-Khulafā’ in Islām in terms of spirituality just as Masīh<br />

Ibn Mariam as was the Khātam-ul-Khulafā’ for the Israelites. If he<br />

had intended <strong>to</strong> speak of his or Hazrat ‘Īsā’s as finality in terms of<br />

time, he would have said:<br />
