converse, but he who is a recipient of divine<br />

revelation in abundance and hidden matters are<br />

revealed <strong>to</strong> him plentifully, is called a prophet. 120<br />

The fact of the matter is that this was also the faith of other<br />

Awliyā’ Allāh [Friends of Allāh]. Other saints have supported this<br />

concept and one of them is ‘Abd-ul-Wahāb Shi‘rānī who says,<br />

“Let it be known that the order of prophethood has not <strong>to</strong>tally<br />

ceased; it is indeed only the law-bearing prophethood which<br />

has discontinued. The statement of the Holy Prophet sa :<br />

لاaبaبدیaوaلاaرولaبدی<br />

means that after him there shall be no law-bearing prophet”. 121<br />

Al-Muslim, Al-Mu’min and As-Sālih<br />

One question that one might still have could be: Did the<br />

Holy Prophet sa not specify the meaning of mubashirāt in<br />

response <strong>to</strong> the question of the sahāba ra ? It is true that, in<br />

response <strong>to</strong> their question, “What are mubashirāt?”, the Holy<br />

Prophet sa replied, “True dreams” or “The dream of a Muslim”<br />

or “The dream of a mu’min” or more clearly “The true dream<br />

which a sālih [righteous] man sees or it is shown <strong>to</strong> him”. The<br />

fact of the matter is that the Holy Prophet sa actually gave the<br />

ummah glad tidings in this hadīth that there shall be those in his<br />

ummah – al-muslim, al-mu’min, and as-sālih – who shall be the<br />

recipients of mubashirāt [glad tidings]. The usage of the words<br />

al-Muslim, al-mu’min, and as-sālih is not pointless and it is meant<br />

<strong>to</strong> point out that the generally pious followers of his ummah will<br />
