Continuation of Prophethood according <strong>to</strong> Ahādīth 303<br />

Statement<br />

If he had lived, [then] he<br />

would have been a prophet<br />

If they believe and act<br />

righteously, [then] they will be<br />

rewarded from Allāh.<br />

Prophethood does not<br />

No sane person would accept Farhan Khan’s conclusions!<br />

Third, Farhan Khan writes, “It was the decree of Allāh<br />

that his son would pass away, thus proving that no more<br />

prophets could come.” 299 The response <strong>to</strong> this is given by Hazrat<br />

Mirzā Tāhir Ahmad rh in the following quotation:<br />

The narration states, “Had he lived, he would have<br />

been a true prophet...”. Our opponent ‘ulemā’ make<br />

this criticism that the Holy Prophet sa has only said<br />

that if he remained alive, he would have been a<br />

prophet, but God caused him <strong>to</strong> die so that he does<br />

not remain alive <strong>to</strong> become a prophet. This is His<br />

wisdom. However, the truth of the matter is that this<br />

is entirely false! There is no wisdom in this! This is a<br />

gross attack on the eloquence of the Holy Prophet sa .<br />

The background of this hadīth is that Hazrat Ibrāhīm<br />

died in the beginning of 9 th Hijrah and the verse of<br />

Khātam-an-Nabiyyīn was revealed in 5 th Hijrah. In<br />
