Continuation of Prophethood according <strong>to</strong> the Holy Qur’ān 267<br />

nations, but they were not made friends of those who rejected<br />

the Holy Prophet <strong>Muhammad</strong> sa . Such meanings and dis<strong>to</strong>rtions<br />

of clear-cut messages of the Holy Qur’ān may only be<br />

acceptable <strong>to</strong> Farhan Khan but they are not acceptable <strong>to</strong> Ahmadī<br />

Muslims!<br />

In addition, Allāh, the Exalted, uses the aارع ل (f‘ail<br />

mudhāri‘) formation in the above verse while addressing the<br />

children of Adam which means that this still applies <strong>to</strong><br />

everyone <strong>to</strong>day and will be applicable <strong>to</strong> everyone until the Last<br />

Day. After that, in verse 32, Allāh, the Exalted, says:<br />

ۤ اٰدَمَ‏ خُذُوْا زِيْنَتَكمُ‏ ْ عِنْدَ‏ كلُ‏ ِّ مَسْ‏ جِدٍ‏ وَّكلُ‏ ‏ُوْا وَاشرْ‏ ‏َبُوْا وَلاَ‏<br />

تُسرْ‏ ‏ِفُوْا ۚ اِنَّهٗ‏ لاَ‏ يحُ‏ ‏ِبُّ‏ الْمُسرْ‏ ‏ِفِينْ‏ ۝ َ<br />

يٰبَنىِ‏ ْ<br />

O children of Adam! Look <strong>to</strong> your adornment at<br />

every time and place of worship, and eat and drink<br />

but exceed not the bounds; surely, He does not love<br />

those who exceed the bounds. 263<br />

If Farhan Khan’s understanding is applied, this commandment<br />

would only be meant for previous nations and Muslims do not<br />

have <strong>to</strong> follow this. How absurd! These are verses revealed by<br />

God and it is His responsibility <strong>to</strong> specify who is exempt from<br />

them. It is the height of shirk (or association of partners with God)<br />

<strong>to</strong> manipulate the words of God <strong>to</strong> suit one’s own predisposed<br />

beliefs. Farhan Khan – or anyone else for that matter – does not<br />

have the authority <strong>to</strong> arbitrarily decide <strong>to</strong> whom God’s verses<br />

apply as if God overlooked that key fact (God forbid).<br />

If Farhan Khan’s understanding is given any credibility,<br />

there are many commandments of Allāh, the Exalted, in the<br />
