behaved <strong>to</strong>wards him with perfidy, treachery or unfaithfulness<br />

or with deceit, guile or circumvention. ô ã»ÃøÖ»^eô ø jø ìø : He was<br />

unfaithful etc., <strong>to</strong> the covenant. äü ö Ë» Þø l» ø jø ìø : His s<strong>to</strong>mach became<br />

heavy; or became agitated by a tendency <strong>to</strong> vomit; became in a<br />

disordered state. º ^j$ ìø : One who acts or behaves with perfidy or<br />

treachery or with the foulest perfidy; one who acts or behaves<br />

with deceit, guile or circumvention or in a corrupt manner and<br />

does so much or frequently or habitually. õ ç»ËöÒø õ^j$ìø Ø% Òö ^$Ö ]ô : None<br />

but every perfidious and ungrateful person (31:33).<br />

Üø jøìø [aor. Üö jôí» mø inf. noun ܺ j» ìø and ݺ ^jø ìô ] äô n»×øÂø Üø jøìø æ»]ø ðøo» $ Ö] Üø jø ìø : He sealed,<br />

stamped, impressed or imprinted the thing or he put the seal on<br />

it. ðø o» $ Ö] Üø jø ìø : He reached the end of the thing. ܺ j» ìø and ĺ f» ø<br />

signify the impressing of a thing with the engraving of signet<br />

and stamp.The former sometimes means the securing oneself<br />

from a thing and protecting oneself from it; in consideration of<br />

protection by means of sealing upon writings; sometimes it<br />

means the producing of an impression or effect upon a thing<br />

from another thing; in consideration of the impress produced<br />

by the signet, sometimes it is used as relating <strong>to</strong> the reaching<br />

the end of a thing. Or the primary signification of ܺ j» ìø is the act<br />

of covering over a thing.The word also signifies the protecting<br />

of what is in a writing by means of a seal. äü eø^eø Ôø n»×øÂø Üø jø ìø : He<br />

sealed his door against thee i.e. he turned away from thee or<br />

avoided thee. äü eø^eø Ôø Öø Üø jø ìø : He sealed for thee his door i.e. he<br />

preferred thee <strong>to</strong> others. ä´ fô×»Îø o×F Âø Üø jø ìø : He (God) sealed his heart<br />

i.e. he made his heart or mind <strong>to</strong> be such as it unders<strong>to</strong>od not.<br />

Ü» ãô ÃôÛ» ø o×F Âø æø Ü» ãô eôç»×öÎö o×F Âø äö×#Ö] Üø jøìø : Allah has set a seal on their hearts<br />

and their ears (2:8). ܺ iø^ ìø (Khatam) and ܺ iô^ìø<br />

(Khatim) and ܺ j» ìø<br />

(Khatmun) are almost synonymous. ܺ iø^ ìø (Khatam) means a<br />

signet-ring; a seal or stamp and a mark; the end or lost part or<br />

portion and result and issue of a thing. ^ ãø Ûô n»iô]çø íø eô Ùö ^Ûø » »] ø ^Ûø Þ$ ]ô :<br />
