ُ َ ُ Nothing has remained of Prophethood except Mubashirāt In a YouTube video, Farhan Khan presents another hadīth to claim that prophethood has ended: انaاباaررۃaالتaرولaااللهaaااللهaہaومa ول م aبق aن aابوۃ إلا aابرات ‏َاaا ‏ِحَ‏ ۃ ابراتُ‏ ؟aالaارؤ aاوa aاوا 109 a َّ ا Hazrat Abū Hurairah ra narrated: I heard Allāh’s Apostle sa saying, “Nothing is left of prophethood except mubashirāt.” They asked, “What are mubashirāt?” He replied, “The true good dreams”. 110 In order to understand this hadīth properly, it is important to look at similar narrations that come in the books of ahādīth. For instance, Fath-ul-Bārī records the following in the commentary to the above hadīth: ْ 109 ححaبخاری،‏aتابaاتبر،‏aباب : ابرات 110 Sahīh Bukhārī, Kitāb-ut-Ta‘bīr, Bāb: Al-Mubashirāt 119
َ ْ ّ ِ ّ ّ َ ّٰ َّ َّ ِ ِ َّ ٔ 120 With Love to Muhammad sa the Khātam-un-Nabiyyīn تَا َ ۃa َ َ رأہ ََ فَ‏ ِ ہ ِ َ ا وف ُ ُ ِ ن َ اا م ْ ِ ُ َّ َ َ مَ‏ َ اتَ‏ ‏َن ا ‏ْہ و االله ‏َّبِ‎‏َّ‏ ا اذِ‏ ي ‏ْر ‏َا أا ا‏َّاس أب بَ‎ ‏َر ‏ُّبُوَّ‏ ا‏َّ‏ ا ‏ِحۃ ِ رَ‏ اتِ‏ ا ۃ إلا ارُّ‏ ؤ ا ر و ‏َّاس و ‏َمْ‏ ‏ْق إہ ‏َب ‏ُرٰ‏ اْ او ت یa َ َ َّ َ َ رہa َ وب ُ ْ َ ِ : خَ‏ ف ْ َ َ الَ‏ ْ بَ‎‏ّ‏ ُ aہ This hadīth states that one day, when the Holy Prophet sa was ill – and this was a short while before his demise and he had tied his head (due to the severity of the illness) – he lifted the curtain of his door and saw that people were arranged in rows in order to pray behind Hazrat Abū Bakr ra . Addressing them, he said, ‘O people, listen! Indeed nothing has remained of the glad tidings of prophethood except the good dream which a Muslim sees or it is shown to him’. 111 Another two narrations state the following: a aااللهa َ َّ َ َّ َ َ َ مَ‏ aاa َ ْ اaو َaا َ َ aاْب ُ ُ ج ُ لa َّ اaار َ ۃُ‏ َ َ ا ا َّ ْ اa ِaاa ّ ٍ َِ نَ‏ aا َّ ْ ب ‏ْنِ‏ َ‎ارaً‎ا َ a ُ وْ‏ لَ‏ َ ِa َ ن a ِ ُ وْ‏ a ُ ز ِ ّ a نْ‏ َa نْ‏ َ a a َ ُ ب َّ ا aت ْ ‏َالَ‏ اْ ا ‏َنaر aااللهa َ آءِ‏ aب ‏ُو ۃِ‏ aاِ‏ َّ لا ّ رَ‏ اتُ‏ aا‏ُّب ‏َنْ‏ ٰ ‏َّبْ‎ َْبa دِ‏ یْ‏ ‏َاaا ‏ِح a‏َر ‏َالَ‏ aارُّ‏ ؤ aاالله a‏َاaر لَ‏ ّ رَ‏ اتُ‏ ‏ْء ‏ْنَ‏ aجُ‏ ز ‏َر ‏ْء ِ تَّۃً‏ aو ‏َہaٗ‎ج ‏َو ٰ ‏ُریa حُ‏ aا ‏ْہaو ‏ُو ۃ ‏ُّبُوَّ‏ Atā’ bin Yasār narrates that the Holy Prophet sa said, “Nothing remains of prophethood after me except mubashirāt.” The companions said, “What are Mubashirāt, O Prophet of Allāh?” He said, “The true dream which a sālih [i.e., righteous] man sees or it is 111 Fathul Bārī, Volume 16, Page 464
