186 With Love to Muhammad sa the Khātam-un-Nabiyyīn

ِٕ الْمَلٰ‏ ۤ ىكَةُ‏ طَ‏ يّ‏
اذلَّ‏ ‏ِيْنَ‏ تَتَوَفّ‏ ‏ٰىهُمُ‏
ِٕ الْمَلٰ‏ ۤ ىكَةُ‏ ظَ‏ ۤ الِمِىْ‏ اَنْفُسِ‏ هِمْ‏
اذلَّ‏ ‏ِيْنَ‏ تَتَوَفّ‏ ‏ٰىهُمُ‏

‏ِبِينْ‏ َ
Thus Ibn-e-‘Abbās, may Allāh be pleased with him,
believed that Jesus as had died. Our readers must be
aware that Ibn-e-‘Abbās was among the foremost of
those who comprehended the Holy Qur’ān perfectly.
The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be
upon him) had prayed for him that he might be
bestowed true knowledge of the Holy Qur’ān. 193
At another place, he writes:
It is for this purpose that Imām Bukhārī (may Allāh
have mercy on him), has quoted the verse:

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيْتَنىِ‏ ْ كُنْتَ‏ اَنْتَ‏ الرَّقِيْبَ‏ عَلَيهْ‏ ‏ِمْ‏
in Kitāb-ut-Tafsīr. In so doing, he intended to convey
that the correct interpretation of the word tawaffaitanī
is the one which the Holy Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allāh be upon him) attributed to it, that
