The SmartCon<strong>tr</strong>oller is the foundation of <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong>’s family of high-performance dis<strong>tr</strong>ibuted<br />

motion and vision con<strong>tr</strong>ollers. The SmartCon<strong>tr</strong>oller is designed for use with <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Cobra</s<strong>tr</strong>ong><br />

<s<strong>tr</strong>ong>s600</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> and <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>s800</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> robots, <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> SmartModules, the <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Six line of robots, and the <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong><br />

sMI6 Module for the SmartMotion product.<br />

All <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> SmartCon<strong>tr</strong>ollers offer scalability and support for IEEE 1394-based digital I/O<br />

and general motion expansion modules. The IEEE 1394 interface is the backbone of <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong><br />

SmartServo, <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong>'s dis<strong>tr</strong>ibuted con<strong>tr</strong>ols architecture supporting <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> products.<br />

The <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> SmartCon<strong>tr</strong>oller CS is configured for standard applications that do not require<br />

vision or conveyor belt <strong>tr</strong>acking. The con<strong>tr</strong>oller features several high-speed<br />

<s<strong>tr</strong>ong>com</s<strong>tr</strong>ong>munication interfaces, including Fast Ethernet, IEEE 1394, and DeviceNet.<br />

<s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> SmartCon<strong>tr</strong>oller CX<br />

The <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>Adept</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> SmartCon<strong>tr</strong>oller CX is a high performance motion and vision con<strong>tr</strong>oller. It has<br />

the same capability as the SmartCon<strong>tr</strong>oller CS, plus additional support for an integrated<br />

vision option, a conveyor <strong>tr</strong>acking option, a more powerful processor, an additional pair<br />

of serial ports, and a second pair of IEEE 1394 network ports.<br />

sDIO Module<br />

The sDIO module provides 32 optical isolated digital inputs and 32 optical isolated<br />

outputs and also includes an IEEE 1394 interface.<br />
