All applications for enrolment in postgraduate courses other<br />

than Master degree by research and by publication or PhD<br />

and Professional Doctorates must be made to the<br />

Admissions Officer from whom application forms are<br />

available, 9214 8386.<br />

Enquiries about the Professional Doctorate in Organisation<br />

Dynamics (by coursework and research) can be made to the<br />

%. School of Management in the Division of Business,<br />

Humanities and Social Science. Enquiries about the<br />

Professional Doctorate in Psychology can be made to the<br />

School of Social and Behavioural Sciences also in the<br />

Division of Business, Humanities and Social Science.<br />

Enrolment and admission to candidature are two separate<br />

processes, both of which must be completed in accordance<br />

with University regulations. Applicants may be accepted for<br />

provisional enrolment by the Head of School, subject to<br />

their being admitted to candidature for the degree.<br />

Alternatively, persons may apply for admission to<br />

candidature and then enrol. The initial steps in approval for<br />

admission to candidature, and in enrolment, are undertaken<br />

within Schools. Admission to candidature then requires<br />

approval of the relevant University committee at Divisional<br />

or University level. Further information on the steps<br />

involved in candidature is available from Divisional<br />

Research and Graduate Studies Officers or the <strong>Swinburne</strong><br />

Graduate Research School.<br />

Fees<br />

Postgraduate Course Fee Refund Policy and<br />

Procedures<br />

This policy applies to students who are Australian<br />

permanent residents and enrol in any fee paying<br />

postgraduate course offered by the University.<br />

Procedures<br />

Students who withdraw from their course by the due date for<br />

payment wil be refunded their fees without penalty.<br />

Students who withdraw from their course between the<br />

day after due date for payment and the HECS census<br />

date (31 March or 31 August) will be charged a $100<br />

administrative fee.<br />

Students who withdraw from their course after the<br />

HECS census date will not be refunded fees for the<br />

current semester. A student seeking exemption from this<br />

procedure may appeal on the grounds of exceptional or<br />

unforeseen circumstances, within the Division of<br />

Business, Humanities and Social Science, to the Deputy<br />

Head of Division or the Manager, Student and Course<br />

Administration and within the Division of Science,<br />

Engineering and Design, to the Head of the relevant<br />

School or Division.<br />

Students who withdraw from a subject or subjects before<br />

the HECS census date will be refunded the applicable<br />

subject fee for the current semester, provided they remain<br />

enrolled in at least one other subject in that semester.<br />

A student who withdraws from a subject or subjects<br />

after the HECS census date will not be refunded fees for<br />

the current semester. A student seeking exemption from<br />

this procedure may appeal on the grounds of exceptional<br />

or unforeseen circumstances, within the Division of<br />

Business, Humanities and Social Science, to the Deputy<br />

Head of Division or the Manager, Student and Course<br />

Administration and within the Division of Science,<br />

Engineering and Design to the Head of the relevant<br />

School or Division.<br />

A student who resumes study after an approved leave of<br />

absence will be charged the postgraduate course fee<br />

applicable at the time of rejoining the course.<br />
