Objectives and Content<br />
This subject focuses on development and maturation in the<br />
early periods of life from infancy and childhood through to<br />
adolescence. The emphasis is on social, emotional, cognitive<br />
and intellectual development with a comprehensive<br />
experiential and experimental program supporting the<br />
theoretical material. The teaching program consists of two<br />
lectures, a practical session and/or a tutorial class per week.<br />

Objdves and Content<br />
This subject involves the scientific study of the personal and<br />
situational factors that influence an individual's behaviour in<br />
social situations. The aim is to introduce students to the key<br />
conceptual and theoretical models in social psychology and<br />
to develop an appreciation of how our behaviour is affected<br />
by the presence or awareness of others.<br />
The teaching program involves two lectures, a tutorial/<br />
practical session and an average of one hour of project work<br />
perweek.<br />

Obj ves and Content<br />
This subject focuses on the behaviour and experience of the<br />
individual as a whole person. Attention is given to<br />
contributions from other specialised fields of psychology,<br />
especially development, social interaction, learning,<br />
motivation, ecti cognition, emotion. Theory and research from<br />
these fields are considered specifically from the viewpoint of<br />
integrating such contributions to increase our understanding<br />
of ourselves and others as persons.<br />
Four major perspectives on personality are examined<br />
psychodynamic, dispositional, cognitive/behavioural,<br />
phenomenological. Issues such as methods of ~ersonalit~<br />
assessment and research strategies are considered. Selected<br />
contemporary issues are examined, including conflict and<br />
defence; the ;elf; self-regulation; purpose and meaning; the<br />
effective personality, personality disorders.<br />

Obiectives and Content<br />
In this subject, students will be involved with the practical<br />
aspects of psychometrics design, construction, validation<br />
and evaluation of assessment techniques. The aim of this<br />
subject is to help students to develop a greater appreciation<br />
of the psychological and measurement foundations of tests<br />
and other assessment procedures.<br />
Approximately the first hour of most of the two hour<br />
sessions will be devoted to information input and the latter<br />
hour to laboratory exercises.<br />
