Students with disabilities<br />

Consideration is given to the provision of reserved spaces<br />

for students with physical disabilities. Enquiries should be<br />

Motorcycles and bicycles<br />

Campus motorcycle parking and bicycle rack locations can<br />

be obtained from Facilities and Services at each campus.<br />

Car pooling<br />

Consideration is given to the provision of reserved spaces<br />

for students car pooling at each campus.<br />

Location of car parks<br />

On-campus parking areas are indicated on the campus<br />

maps in this <strong>Handbook</strong> and on the reverse of parking<br />

applications and permits.<br />

Possible changes<br />

<strong>Swinburne</strong> is developing a new University-wide parking<br />

policy for staff and students on all campuses and all the<br />

above parking regulations are subject to change. It is<br />

expected that parking fees will be changed from 1 January<br />

<strong>1997</strong>.<br />

Student Residence & Carpark<br />

A student accommodation college including apartments<br />

and car parking is due to be completed by the beginning of<br />

<strong>1997</strong>. The complex contains an 86 bedroom student<br />

residential college and 38 two and three bedroom<br />

apartments. It will provide much needed accommodation<br />

for <strong>Swinburne</strong> students from the country and overseas.<br />

In addition the complex will provide parking for more<br />

than 680 cars. The five deck car park will solve many of<br />

the problems local residents and the <strong>Swinburne</strong><br />

community has faced as <strong>Swinburne</strong> has grown.<br />

staff. The majority of services listed at the Hawthorn<br />

campus are also available at the Lilydale campus and the<br />

Prahran campus. <strong>Swinburne</strong> students can use services at<br />

The Counselling Service is available to students and their<br />

partners, staff and graduates up to 12 months after<br />

completion of their course. The Service is free and strictly<br />

confidential.<br />

The service includes individual counselling by<br />

appointment or on a 'drop-in' basis, group workshops for<br />

students and staff and consultancy to staff to enhance their<br />

work environment. The counsellors, who are registered<br />

psychologists, assist with areas such as:<br />

Relationship and interpersonal education<br />

Effective strategies for stress management and problem<br />

solving<br />

Cross-Cultural Counselling and Workshops for:<br />

Adjustment to Australian society and university life<br />

The Learning Skills area enhances student learning and<br />

assists students who are having problems with their<br />
