Set up as part <strong>of</strong> the government’s strategy on homelessness. The Agency<br />

is responsible for the management and co-ordination <strong>of</strong> services to people<br />

who are homeless in the Dublin area, and for the implementation <strong>of</strong> agreed<br />

action plans which aim to eliminate homelessness in the capital by 2010.<br />

The Agency has a partnership structure, bringing together the voluntary and<br />

statutory agencies responsible for planning, funding and delivering services<br />

to people who are homeless. The Agency is at the hub <strong>of</strong> homeless services:<br />

leading the services in the implementation <strong>of</strong> action plans; providing training,<br />

support and information; undertaking research on the nature and extent<br />

<strong>of</strong> homelessness and research into best practice in tackling homelessness;<br />

developing policy and service development proposals; administering funding<br />

to services and monitoring and evaluating those services.<br />

Works with street children in Calcutta in the areas <strong>of</strong> healthcare,<br />

accommodation, education, vocational training, counselling and human<br />

rights advocacy. The Irish <strong>of</strong>fice is concerned with raising funds for more<br />

than 50 projects that are funded and operated by the Hope Foundation<br />

with 14 partner organisations in India. The Foundation works towards<br />

the restoration <strong>of</strong> the rights <strong>of</strong> the child and is involved in human rights<br />

advocacy through anti-trafficking and anti child-labour campaigns in both<br />
