Brings together 37 Irish voluntary agencies involved in development co-operation<br />
with the third world. Provides a forum for those agencies to meet and develop<br />
common understanding and action on important justice and development issues.<br />
Speaks on behalf <strong>of</strong> its members on issues such as Irish government policy,<br />
the European Union’s relations with third world countries, trade, development<br />
education, human rights, humanitarian assistance, and so on. Meets regularly<br />
with government departments and organisations with a view to impressing on<br />
them its member agencies’ experiences and perspectives on such issues.<br />

The role <strong>of</strong> the Board is to review and assess the effectiveness and impact <strong>of</strong><br />
the disbursement <strong>of</strong> monies from the Dormant Accounts Fund. The Dormant<br />
Accounts Fund is administered by the Department <strong>of</strong> Community, Rural and<br />
Gaeltacht Affairs.<br />
