<strong>National</strong> organisation that was established in 1961 (as namhi) and is an<br />

umbrella body for over 160 organisations that work to support the 25,000<br />

or so people with an intellectual disability in Ireland. Its mission: to be<br />

the independent champion <strong>of</strong> all people with an intellectual disability and<br />

their families, to ensure their voices are heard, that they are not isolated or<br />

segregated and that they can lead independent and healthy lives.<br />

Helps older people on low incomes to remain independent in their own homes,<br />

whether owned or rented. Provides small regular income and extra grants for<br />
