The <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>Information</strong> Board (formerly Comhairle) is the statutory agency<br />
responsible for supporting the provision <strong>of</strong> information, advice and advocacy<br />
on social and civil services. The <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>Information</strong> Board (CIB) supports<br />
the nationwide network <strong>of</strong> <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>Information</strong> Centres, the <strong>Citizens</strong><br />
<strong>Information</strong> Phone Service (1890 777 121) and the <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>Information</strong><br />
website www.citizensinformation.ie. It is committed to promoting access<br />
to information for all citizens including people with disabilities. Other<br />
resources include the <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>Information</strong> Board website, which links to<br />
www.assistireland.ie (a website with information on assistive technology<br />
products) and the online Resource Database for the <strong>Voluntary</strong> and<br />
Community Sectors in Ireland including a database <strong>of</strong> funding sources.<br />
CIB contributes to the development <strong>of</strong> social policy in relation to citizens’<br />
access to social services. Services to voluntary organisations include<br />
national and regional training programmes for information providers<br />
and group insurance schemes.<br />
