Statutory body with eleven commissioners who are appointed by the<br />

government and give their services voluntarily. The Board acts as trustee <strong>of</strong> some<br />

charitable trusts, and holds funds on behalf <strong>of</strong> others. It can invest, and authorise<br />

charity trustees to invest, in securities outside the ordinary range <strong>of</strong> trustee<br />

securities. It can appoint new trustees and authorise sales <strong>of</strong> charity property.<br />
