A non-pr<strong>of</strong>it, non-governmental organisation that is devoted to<br />

peacebuilding and reconciliation in Ireland, north and south, Britain and<br />

beyond. The programme work builds peace and fosters reconciliation by<br />

facilitating dialogues, creating peace education resources, and much more.<br />

The Centre was founded in 1974 as a response to violent conflict in Ireland,<br />

and in light <strong>of</strong> a conviction that non-violent solutions must be pursued<br />

to encourage reconciliation within and between communities. Also has a<br />

An international humanitarian organisation dedicated to the alleviation<br />

<strong>of</strong> suffering among the poorest <strong>of</strong> the poor in the developing world.<br />

GOAL works towards ensuring that every human being has a right to the<br />

fundamentals <strong>of</strong> life – that is, food, water, shelter, literacy and medical<br />

attention. It is non-denominational and non-political. It currently operates<br />

in 11 countries across the world. It also implements rehabilitation and<br />

long-term development programmes including care for street children and<br />

people affected by HIV/AIDS. Since its inception, GOAL has sent over 1,200<br />

volunteers to work in the developing world and spent in excess <strong>of</strong> €400<br />

million on the delivery <strong>of</strong> aid to the poor. GOAL also operates a school<br />

education programme and gives talks with slides/videos to interested groups.<br />
