A national, non-pr<strong>of</strong>it, charitable, partly government-funded organisation<br />

run by and on behalf <strong>of</strong> families bereaved by homicide. It campaigns for<br />

greater rights for victims <strong>of</strong> homicide, their families and friends. Brings<br />

together families bereaved by homicide including those affected by murder,<br />

manslaughter and fatal assault. Works to ensure that the rights <strong>of</strong> families<br />

<strong>of</strong> homicide victims are not ignored within the criminal justice system and<br />

aims to bring about a fairer, more balanced system for such families. Also<br />

seeks to achieve improved co-ordination between agencies working in<br />

the system. Other services include subsidised counselling and processing<br />

requests for legal advice with the Bar Council <strong>Voluntary</strong> Assistance Scheme.<br />
