Aims to assist those with Parkinson’s, their families and carers, health<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals and interested others by <strong>of</strong>fering support and information<br />
on any aspect <strong>of</strong> living with Parkinson’s. Also lobbies for improved services,<br />
including the provision <strong>of</strong> Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists. The association<br />
organises regular information-update meetings at venues throughout the<br />
country. There is a nationwide network <strong>of</strong> branches. The PALS Branch, based<br />
in Dublin, is an option for those diagnosed under the age <strong>of</strong> 55. Each branch<br />
organises activities, meetings and outings, and represents an important<br />
source <strong>of</strong> support for members. The Association is a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Neurological Alliance <strong>of</strong> Ireland, The Disability Federation <strong>of</strong> Ireland, and the<br />
European Parkinson’s Disease Association.<br />
Publications: Newsletter, information leaflets on Parkinson’s, treatments,<br />
depression, speech therapy, physiotherapy, cognitive aspects <strong>of</strong> Parkinson’s,<br />
coping for patients and carers; Exercises for Patients with Parkinson’s Disease.<br />

An outreach initiative <strong>of</strong> the educational services provided to prisons by<br />
the City <strong>of</strong> Dublin Vocational Education Committee. Aims to facilitate the<br />
