Works in the area <strong>of</strong> national policy advocacy on the rights and welfare <strong>of</strong><br />

children in Ireland and is a coalition <strong>of</strong> more than 80 non-governmental<br />

organisations. Aims: promote awareness and understanding <strong>of</strong> the UN<br />

Convention on the Rights <strong>of</strong> the Child; secure the necessary changes in law,<br />

policies and services to ensure that the rights named in the Convention<br />

<strong>National</strong> organisation that works with policy makers and health<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals to promote the welfare and wellbeing <strong>of</strong> all sick children by<br />

drawing attention to their need for emotional security. It supports parents<br />

before, during and after a child’s stay in hospital. Programme and activities:<br />

provision <strong>of</strong> play and recreation by trained and vetted hospital PlayWell<br />

volunteers in 17 hospitals; JustAsk Hospital Help Desk (information and<br />

advice service) at Crumlin; education programmes aimed at school and<br />

college students, parents, and health and other pr<strong>of</strong>essionals; annual public<br />

lecture; research relating to the needs <strong>of</strong> sick children and their parents;<br />

awareness-raising projects.<br />
