An independent mental health initiative led by service users. It is a<br />
partnership between those who have experienced mental health difficulties,<br />
their carers and families. It aims to improve the quality <strong>of</strong> life <strong>of</strong> the client<br />
groups and promote better mental health within communities. STEER<br />
provides a range <strong>of</strong> community-based mental health support services:<br />
advocacy; counselling; supported recovery programmes; suicide intervention<br />
and family support; volunteering; educational programmes; career guidance.<br />

A youth movement dedicated to enhancing education for communities in<br />
Ireland and overseas through the determined action and passionate advocacy<br />
<strong>of</strong> its members. In India and Kenya, Suas supports education projects at primary<br />
level and funds the education <strong>of</strong> almost 10,000 children and the salaries <strong>of</strong> 100<br />
staff. To these schools, it also sends volunteer teaching assistants from Ireland<br />
each summer. In Ireland, Suas has a network <strong>of</strong> college societies with members<br />
involved in awareness-raising, mentoring, and fundraising. Events and education<br />
programmes raise awareness <strong>of</strong> cultural diversity and inspire people to take<br />
an interest in international development. Suas’s vision is a world where all<br />
