Volunteer-led organisation that provides emotional and practical assistance<br />

to all victims <strong>of</strong> crime. All volunteers are trained. Victims can leave a message<br />

on either <strong>of</strong> the above numbers and they will be contacted on the same day<br />

by the branch co-ordinator. The Federation will always refer people to the<br />

relevant agencies when necessary. The Federation is recognised and funded<br />

by the Commission for the Support <strong>of</strong> Victims <strong>of</strong> Crime.<br />

<strong>National</strong> awarding body for further education and training in Ireland that<br />

gives people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or<br />

training centres, in the workplace and in the community. FETAC’s functions<br />

include making and promoting awards, validating programmes, monitoring<br />

and ensuring the quality <strong>of</strong> programmes, and determining standards.<br />

Programmes leading to FETAC awards are <strong>of</strong>fered nationwide by a broad<br />

range <strong>of</strong> providers in diverse settings including BIM, Fáilte Ireland (CERT),<br />

FÁS and Teagasc centres, VECs, adult and community education and training<br />

centres, institutes <strong>of</strong> technology and in the workplace.<br />
