Disability Federation <strong>of</strong> Ireland (DFI) is the national support organisation<br />
and advocate for voluntary organisations and/or non-statutory agencies<br />
in Ireland which provide services to people with disabilities and disabling<br />
conditions. DFI has ongoing involvement with over 296 voluntary<br />
disability-related organisations throughout Ireland, 70 <strong>of</strong> which are from its<br />
<strong>National</strong> Council and 41 <strong>of</strong> which are associate members. Services include<br />
direct services to voluntary organisations such as the Regional Support<br />
Service, Management Resource Service and DFI <strong>Information</strong> Service.<br />
DFI also supports the broader voluntary and disability sector through its<br />
representation <strong>of</strong> the disability strand within the community and voluntary<br />
pillar <strong>of</strong> the Social Partnership process, and as a social partner at the<br />
<strong>National</strong> Economic and Social Forum and other forums at regional, national<br />
and European level.<br />

Aims to help people with physical disability achieve independence through<br />
mobility and education. Operates a driving assessment centre and driving<br />
school. Provides information on aids and adaptations for cars to enable<br />
people with disabilities to drive. Subsidiaries include Ability Enterprises,<br />
providing computer and <strong>of</strong>fice skills training, and Shopmobility Ireland which<br />
provides wheelchairs, powerchairs and mobility scooters at four shopping<br />
centres around the country.<br />
