Social awareness education and action programme for 15 to 18 year olds<br />

that nurtures active citizenship and encourages community and voluntary<br />

work. Raises social awareness among young people by providing education<br />

frameworks to enhance their personal sense <strong>of</strong> justice and responsibility.<br />

Participants direct their own projects and are invited to make innovative<br />

suggestions for change that will create a positive difference in people’s<br />

lives. Issues tackled include the environment, human rights, integration,<br />

poverty, global issues, community concerns and everyone’s physical and<br />

mental wellbeing.<br />

Aims: providing opportunities for people, particularly young people,<br />

to explore the Christian faith; providing educational and recreational<br />

facilities and programmes to encourage all-round development; encourage<br />

participation with like-minded groups worldwide. Activities: management<br />

<strong>of</strong> student hostel (Dublin); holiday and conference centres (Waterford,<br />

Wicklow, and Down in Northern Ireland); community outreach (Monaghan<br />

and Lisburn); financial support for short-term volunteering.<br />
