Aims to assist polio survivors who are experiencing the late effects <strong>of</strong><br />

polio, in particular post polio syndrome, and works to improve the general<br />

situation <strong>of</strong> polio survivors. The Group raises awareness and provides<br />

information on the condition. It <strong>of</strong>fers support and practical help to polio<br />

survivors and develops local contact and peer support groups where<br />

members can meet, socialise and share experiences with others who have a<br />

similar condition and have learned good coping mechanisms.<br />

Publications: The Survivor, published 3 to 4 times each year.<br />

Offers support and advice to women and their families. Provides a drop-in<br />

service. Tries to educate the general public and help avoid stigmatisation.<br />

Liaises with the HSE in relation to providing a better service. Offers support<br />

Aims to further the spiritual development <strong>of</strong> children and young people<br />

and encourage their sense <strong>of</strong> responsibility towards others. Runs youth<br />

leadership training courses, overseas and home service teams, events,<br />

residential youth centres, cross-community work, SWIM volunteers and<br />

team working in local church situations.<br />
