BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The 15,422 square foot site is currently platted as two lots. One lot is developed with
a vacant two-story building, the other lot is vacant.
• The applicant is requesting a SUP for hotel uses for both lots. Both buildings would
be operated by the same owner, who also owns the hotel and condominium building
across Fairmount Street.
• The request is across the street from hotel and condominium uses to the south and
west, with office and single family houses on the same block to the north and east.
• The site is located within the Historic Core subdistrict of the State Thomas Special
Purpose District, and Historic Overlay No. 25. Therefore, Landmark Commission
approval is required for new construction and exterior renovations. The applicant
received a courtesy review by the Landmark Commission on January 3, 2012, and
expects to submit for formal Landmark Commission approval in February, 2012.
