BACKGROUND INFORMATION:<br />

• The 15,422 square foot site is currently platted as two lots. One lot is developed with<br />

a vacant two-story building, the other lot is vacant.<br />

• The applicant is requesting a SUP for hotel uses for both lots. Both buildings would<br />

be operated by the same owner, who also owns the hotel and condominium building<br />

across Fairmount Street.<br />

• The request is across the street from hotel and condominium uses to the south and<br />

west, with <strong>of</strong>fice and single family houses on the same block to the north and east.<br />

• The site is located within the Historic Core subdistrict <strong>of</strong> the State Thomas Special<br />

Purpose District, and Historic Overlay No. 25. Therefore, Landmark Commission<br />

approval is required for new construction and exterior renovations. The applicant<br />

received a courtesy review by the Landmark Commission on January 3, 2012, and<br />

expects to submit for formal Landmark Commission approval in February, 2012.<br />
