1. BASH Phase I/Phase II Designations. For military aircraft<br />

arriving and departing Charlotte Douglas Intl (KCLT), designated<br />

Phase I period is from December through August, Phase II period<br />

from September through November annually. During Phase II,<br />

contact Airfield Management, callsign "Newsreel", frequency<br />

292.2 UHF, for current bird watch condition and observed bird<br />

activity on airfield.<br />

Cherry Point MCAS (KNKT), NC<br />

1. All landing runways at this Air Station terminate in a<br />

common area referred to as the "centermat". All departures<br />

depart from the "centermat" and all arrivals land towards the<br />

"centermat". All runways and taxiways, except Taxiways A and C,<br />

will accept all aircraft C-141 and larger at all weights. Wide body<br />

aircraft and those aircraft that have the potential for their wingtips<br />

to penetrate the flight line parking areas are prohibited from<br />

use of Taxiway H which is 75’ wide.<br />

2. NADEP flight line gate - For entry contact "CAMEL BASE"<br />

on 267.7, 1300-2200Z++; other times with prior notice.<br />

3. BOQ space limited, reservations required DSN 852-5169.<br />

4. All aircraft required to contact "APPROACH <strong>NORTH</strong>" on<br />

360.775 prior to entering R5306.<br />

5. CAUTION - WILDLIFE HAZARDS. Water fowl, migratory<br />

geese, wild turkey, seagulls and numerous other bird species<br />

prevalent in and around this Air Station. In addition, the airfield<br />

experiences numerous deer intrusions during hours of darkness.<br />

Transient services personnel can conduct a deer sweep of the<br />

runway prior to night landings at aircrews request. Monitor ATIS<br />

for latest conditions.<br />

6. SERVICES - No lavatory services for military aircraft. De-<br />

icing services limited and must be pre-coordinated with Airfield<br />

Operations.<br />

7. C<strong>US</strong>TOMS and agriculture available with 24 hours prior<br />

notice and PPR.<br />

China Lake NAWS (KNID), CA<br />

1. CAUTION - Extensive research, development, test and<br />

evaluation, and fleet training operations in progress in R2505,<br />

R2506, and R2524. It is imperative that pilots avoid flight within<br />

these areas without prior clearance from the appropriate<br />

controlling agency. Contact "China Control" UHF 301.0/VHF<br />

128.25 or assigned range frequency prior to entering these areas.<br />

2. CAUTION - Airfield is surrounded on three sides by gunnery,<br />

missile, and bombing ranges which restrict normal airfield traffic<br />

patterns. Live gun firing may be in progress 3.5 NM from the<br />

airfield. See FLIGHT HAZARDS Section.<br />

3. CAUTION - Drone operations may be in progress during<br />

daylight hours. Drone aircraft in the landing pattern have priority<br />

over all traffic except emergencies. During launch or recovery of<br />

drone aircraft with No Onboard Live Operator (NOLO), the<br />

airfield and adjacent ranges will be closed to all flight operations<br />

until completion of launch or recovery.<br />

4. SPECIAL AIRSPACE SCHEDULING REQUIREMENT - Due to<br />

the location of China Lake (KNID) within the R2508<br />

Complex/MOA's it is mandatory that pilots enroute to/from<br />

China Lake (KNID) contact the R2508 Complex Central<br />

Coordinating Facility (CCF) at Edwards AFB (KEDW) for complex<br />

transit scheduling and activity briefing 1400-0300Z++ Monday-<br />

Friday. (Telephone C805-277-2508 or DSN 527-2508). Also, see<br />

FLIGHT HAZARDS, R2508 Complex.<br />

5. VFR ARRIVALS -<br />

a. Pilots will make initial call to Control Tower at 15 NM.<br />

b. Break altitude 3800’ MSL.<br />

c. Pattern altitude 3300’ MSL.<br />

d. Jets enter from the S, remaining E of inhabited areas of<br />

China Lake NAWS (KNID) and city of Ridgecrest. Pilots report<br />

abeam of Point Bravo (large letter "B" on mountainside; located<br />

105°/4 NM from the TACAN) at 3800’ MSL.<br />

e. Prop/turboprops enter from the SE heading of 340°<br />

direct to the airfield. Pilots report 5 NM at 3200’ MSL.<br />

6. VFR DEPARTURES -<br />

a. RWY 26 <strong>AND</strong> 32 - After departure make an immediate left<br />

turn to avoid the ranges, climb VFR on heading 175° until
