3-4 BOLIVIA<br />

FLIGHT PLANNING<br />

1. VFR flights arriving and departing Philip S.W. Goldson Intl<br />

(MZBZ):<br />

a. All VFR flights inbound to Philip S.W. Goldson Intl (MZBZ),<br />

or Belize City Municipal, or transitioning within 25 NM of the<br />

airport will, when within 25 NM range of the airport, be at an<br />

altitude below 3000’, and when within the Control Zone (10 NM<br />

range of the airport), be at an altitude below 2000’.<br />

b. All VFR flights departing from Philip S.W. Goldson Intl<br />

(MZBZ) or Belize City Municipal will fly at an altitude below 2000’<br />

while within the Control Zone (10 NM range of the airport) and<br />

outside the Control Zone, below 3000’ until beyond 25 NM range<br />

from the airport.<br />

2. IFR flights arriving and departing Philip S.W. Goldson Intl<br />

(MZBZ):<br />

a. All IFR flights inbound for landing at Philip S.W. Goldson<br />

Intl (MZBZ) will arrange their descent to be descending through<br />

4000’ at Belize BZE DME 10 NM range, unless otherwise<br />

instructed.<br />

b. All IFR flights departing from Philip S.W. Goldson Intl<br />

(MZBZ) will arrange their climb to achieve 4000’ or above at Belize<br />

BZE DME 10 NM range. Commanders of aircraft which cannot<br />

achieve the required climb gradient should inform the controller of<br />

the fact before taxiing so that he can arrange a special departure<br />

clearance.<br />

1. A Short Range Air Defense Engagement Zone, (SHORADIZ),<br />

is in force within 8 NM of Philip S.W. Goldson Intl (MZBZ) surface<br />

to 19,000’. Aircraft transiting the area or intending to land<br />

contact Approach 121.0 or Tower 118.0 within 16 NM of airport.<br />

Transiting aircraft avoid entering the SHORADIZ if possible. All<br />

movements within SHORADIZ prohibited without Air Traffic<br />

Control approval.<br />

rules can be complied with simultaneously and continuously:<br />

a. Maintain flight visibility equal to or above 3 SM.<br />

b. Maintain a distance not less than 1 NM horizontally and<br />

1000’ vertically from clouds or any other meteorological formation<br />

of equivalent opacity.<br />

c. Maintain reference with the ground or water, without<br />

permitting any meteorological formation below flight level to<br />

obstruct more than half of the pilots vision reference.<br />

d. Fly below FL150.<br />

e. Fly less than 380 knots.<br />

2. Brazil has implemented the ICAO Annex 11 airspace<br />

classifications with following exceptions:<br />

a. Airspace classification B, VFR speed limitation is 380<br />
