5. ARRIVALS RWY 29 -<br />
a. Visual entry and landing for all aircraft as follows:<br />
(1) Interception of extended Rwy 29 centerline N of<br />
NZY TACAN R-125 not authorized until inside 2.5 DME.<br />
(2) Arrivals from E - Cross Silver Strand Beach beyond<br />
NZY 4 DME and remain SW of NZY TACAN R-125 until inside 2.5<br />
DME.<br />
(3) Arrivals from W - Remain SW of NZY TACAN R-125<br />
until inside 2.5 DME. CAUTION - Departing traffic climbing S on<br />
NZY TACAN R-175 within 7 DME.<br />
b. Rwy 29 ASR/PAR approach:<br />
(1) When weather is 600-2 or better, Rwy 29 ASR/PAR<br />
final approach course is OFFSET 8° clockwise. At 1 NM from<br />
runway/touchdown (approximately NZY TACAN 2 DME) pilot<br />
proceeds visually.<br />
6. ARRIVALS RWY 36 -<br />
a. Used for arrivals during noise abatement hours when<br />
weather is at or above basic VFR minima. Heavy-class and AV-8<br />
aircraft arrive on this runway even if IMC exist, unless otherwise<br />
directed by ATC or pilot request of another runway for safety of<br />
flight reasons.<br />
b. Expect up to 30 minute delay for instrument approach<br />
due sequencing with San Diego Intl Airport (KSAN) arrivals and<br />
departures.<br />
7. ENGINE TURN-UP RESTRICTIONS - Transient flight crew<br />
and/or maintenance personnel shall coordinate with North Island<br />
(KNZY) Operations Duty Officer, Bldg 516 next to transient line,<br />
prior to commencing any engine maintenance turn-ups. High<br />
performance turn-ups are not authorized under any<br />
circumstances on parking aprons. Pre-departure turn-ups<br />
immediately prior to take-off are excluded from limitations;<br />
however, they must be accomplished in designated areas and<br />
prudence must be exercised to avoid excessive turn-up time.<br />
8. MESSAGE TRAFFIC - All message traffic to North Island<br />
NAS (KNZY) pertaining to flight operations shall be directed to<br />
"NAVBASE CORONADO SAN DIEGO CA//30//."<br />
9. AIR TERMINAL - All passengers (except Distinguished<br />
Visitors) are required to enplane/deplane at the Air Terminal.<br />
Fueling of large passenger aircraft will be accomplished after all<br />
passengers/baggage have been off-loaded.<br />
10. TRANSIENT SERVICE - Limited on-base transportation<br />
available, expect delays. Off-base transportation available only<br />
via commercial taxi or pre-arranged rental car. Contact the<br />
Operations Duty Officer DSN 735-8233, C619-545-8233 for<br />
billeting and transportation information.<br />

11. CAUTION -<br />
a. Taxiway D and F not lit for night operations.<br />
b. Runway 11-29 surface area between the runway edge<br />
lines and runway edge lights, approximately 50’ on either side, is<br />
cracked and has loose gravel. Pilots should exercise caution<br />
transiting the area between the runway edge lines and runway<br />
edge lights.<br />

c. Heavy vehicle traffic crossing Taxiway L at Read Road.<br />
Ensure landing light is on while operating on Taxiway L.<br />
d. Radio communications intermittent west side of Point<br />
Loma at altitudes below 500’.<br />

Oceana NAS (KNTU), VA<br />
1. NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES - Oceana NAS (KNTU) is<br />
located in an extremely noise-sensitive area and strict compliance<br />
with ATC procedures is mandatory. Flight/course rules violations<br />
will be processed in accordance with OPNAVINST 3710.7.<br />

2. Touch and go, low approach or carrier landing practice not<br />
permitted at Oceana NAS (KNTU) during 0300-1200Z++ Monday-<br />
Saturday and 0300Z++ Saturday-1800Z++ Sunday.<br />

3. PROCEDURES FOR TAKE-OFF ON ALL RUNWAYS -<br />
a. During all operating conditions:<br />
(1) Climb as rapidly as possible to 1000’ MSL on runway<br />
heading. Maintain 1000’ MSL until clear of VFR landing pattern.<br />
CAUTION - Extensive overhead traffic.<br />
(2) Secure afterburners no later than field boundary.<br />
(3) Commence turn required for Standard Instrument<br />
Departure (SID)/Special Military Operations departure at 1000’<br />
MSL.<br />
(4) One exception: For S departures, on Rwy 05 during<br />
daylight, VFR conditions- Upon reaching 300’ MSL commence a<br />
climbing right turn (within safe aircraft/crew limitations) to<br />
intercept the initial departure track. <strong>The</strong> right turn out shall<br />
commence no earlier than abeam the Tower.<br />
4. DEPARTURE PROCEDURES AFTER TAKE-OFF -<br />
a. RWY 05 and 14 - Upon commencing right turn out,<br />
continue to altitude as cleared by tower/approach and turn to a<br />
heading of 210°. Intercept and track the NTU 175 radial not later<br />
than the 4 NM fix. CAUTION - R6606 3.5 NM E of airport.<br />
b. RWY 23 - Do not commence left turn until reaching the<br />
upwind end of Rwy 23L. Maintain 1000’ MSL until clear of VFR<br />
landing pattern and then continue to 4000’ MSL. Expect requested<br />
altitude 10 minutes after departure.<br />
c. RWY 32 - Departure turns must commence within 2 NM.<br />
CAUTION - Class C Airspace located 3.5 NM NW of airport.<br />
Maintain 1000’ MSL until clear of VFR landing pattern then<br />
continue to 4000’ MSL. Expect requested altitude 10 minutes after<br />
departure.<br />
d. Exercise extreme care to avoid flight E of NTU R-175<br />
between 2 and 8 DME.<br />
5. SPECIAL OPERATING PROCEDURES -<br />
a. VFR tower pattern - when cleared aircraft enter the break<br />
at 1500’ MSL, break level when cleared and maintain 1500’ MSL<br />
until established downwind to avoid departing traffic. Downwind<br />
1000’ MSL.<br />
b. VFR/SVFR helicopter routes mandatory for all helicopter<br />
flight at or below 1000’.
