Rwy 05 - Absolute maximum pattern width 1.5 NM. Rwy 23 -<br />

Absolute minimum pattern width 2.2 NM to avoid overflight of<br />

residential area located 1.5 NM SE of approach end of Rwy 05. ALL<br />

FLIGHTS TO/FROM FENTRESS NALF (KNFE) REQUIRE ATC<br />

APPROVAL. CAUTION - Arrivals to Rwy 05 at Oceana NAS (KNTU)<br />

pass over Fentress NALF (KNFE) as low as 1500’ MSL.<br />

6. MISCELLANEO<strong>US</strong> -<br />

a. QUARTERS - Officer/enlisted berthing very limited,<br />

require 48 hours prior notice to ensure accommodations.<br />

b. TRANSPORTATION - Limited on-base transportation<br />

available, expect delays. Off-base transportation available only via<br />

commercial taxi or pre-arranged rental car.<br />

(1) Normal working hours; on base taxi only.<br />

(2) After normal working hours; Base Operations will<br />

provide limited transportation on base only. Off station<br />

transportation shall be arranged prior to arrival.<br />

c. FUEL -<br />

(1) Turbojet aircraft expect hot pit refueling with<br />

possible 1-2 hours delay if truck refuel required. No fuel service<br />

available 0330-1300Z++ due to personnel restrictions.<br />

d. PPR, DSN 433-2162 or C757-433-2162.<br />

e. No locked wheel turns on asphalt portions of<br />

runways/taxiways.<br />

f. Touch and go prohibited for heavy aircraft.<br />

1. No brake/drag chute repacking available. Bring spare chute.<br />

Potable water available with 24 hour prior notice. Limited parking<br />

and no hangar space available for transient aircraft. Limited deicing<br />

capability for C-5/C-17 aircraft, contact TA DSN 272-<br />

6145/6146 C402-232-6145/6146 prior flight planning to Offutt<br />

AFB (KOFF), NE. Transient aircraft expect 2 hours service delay.<br />

Limited aircraft deicing capability for large aircraft. Limited<br />

maintenance for F-16 with F110 engines, no Electron<br />

Microscope/Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM/EDX) available.<br />

2. CAUTION -<br />

a. ARRIVALS - <strong>The</strong> area past the opposite end landing<br />

threshold authorized for use during landing rollout as directed by<br />

the Control Tower.<br />

b. DEPARTURES - 55 OG/CC approval required via CP for<br />

TRT/afterburner procedures for all heavy aircraft. Additionally, no<br />

heavy aircraft engine runs allowed prior to threshold. 55 OG/CC<br />

approval required prior to using any portion of overrun to begin<br />

takeoff roll.<br />

will exit/enter the active runway at Mike South or Mike North.<br />

intersection of Charlie and Oscar due to alert ramp and Entry<br />

Control Point personnel and equipment.<br />

3. Noise sensitive areas adjacent to base over city of Bellevue<br />

to the NE and housing areas SW. Expeditious climb to assigned<br />

altitude and minimum use of afterburner consistent with safe<br />

aircraft operating procedures required to minimize noise impact.<br />

6. CAUTION - Approach to Rwy 30 is over area lakes and<br />

surrounding cropland with a large year-round population of birds<br />

and waterfowl. Expect moderate bird population in the vicinity of<br />

the airport throughout the year during the Bird Aircraft Strike<br />

Hazard (BASH) Phase I Period. Expect a significant increase in<br />

hazardous bird activity while in the BASH Phase II Period during<br />

spring: March-May and fall: September-November migratory<br />

seasons. When Bird Watch Condition is MODERATE, expect no<br />

transition, and when Bird Watch Condition is SEVERE the airport<br />

will be closed to all traffic until the status can be downgraded<br />

(OG/CC waiver required). Contact ATIS for current Bird Watch<br />

Condition.<br />

Palmdale Rgnl/<strong>US</strong>AF Plant 42 (KPMD)<br />

1. NOISE ABATEMENT - Aircraft using Rwy 25 should begin<br />

turn to downwind leg no later than 3/4 NM from end of runway (a<br />

4-lane highway off the end of the runway is a good visual<br />

reference). If aircraft performance or ATC instructions do not<br />

permit this, remain on runway heading, expedite climb to 1000’<br />

AGL and then begin turn. Aircraft using Rwy 04-22 should begin<br />

turn to downwind leg as soon as safely possible. Afterburner use<br />

should be minimized for both runways. All aircraft should avoid<br />

overflight of populated areas at altitudes less than 1200’ AGL.<br />

2. BIRD AIRCRAFT STRIKE HAZARD - Migratory Season Phase<br />

II 1 October-31 March. During Bird Watch Condition MODERATE<br />

1. CAUTION -<br />

a. Numerous birds on and in vicinity of airfield throughout<br />

the year. Expect increased activity during Phase II (1 October-31<br />

March) and at dawn/dusk +/- 1 hour. Gulls, cattle egrets, pigeons,<br />

doves and raptors account for over 85% of bird strikes. Pelicans,<br />

cormorants, shorebirds, herons, egrets, storks and owls are also on<br />

and around the airfield. Bird Watch Condition Codes are:
