notification required on a 24 hour basis.<br />

c. Dry ice must be purchased off base by aircrews.<br />

d. Wet ice requests (over 10 pounds) must be made at least<br />

24 hours in advance of required use and will be accepted 7 days a<br />

week (holidays excluded).<br />

e. Peterson (KCOS) does not have the capability to<br />

load/offload aircraft requiring wide-body loaders or baggage<br />

conveyers. 72 hour prior notice is required for coordination with<br />

the city side. Users will be billed once the equipment arrives on the<br />

Peterson (KCOS) side regardless of whether the service is used or<br />

not. Requests accepted 7 days a week (holidays excluded).<br />

f. Aircraft arriving without PPR number will be handled and<br />

serviced as the lowest priority. If fuel is requested and not<br />

available, they will be asked to go to the Fixed Base Operator on<br />

the city side.<br />

g. Request aircraft flying into the city side to indicate such in<br />

flight plan remarks with: “Park CJC FBO”.<br />

h. Transient aircraft movement on the military ramp is<br />

prohibited and strictly enforced during the hours of closure.<br />

i. Deployments must provide their own ground support<br />

crews and operate within Peterson (KCOS) operational hours, as<br />

published in the <strong>US</strong> IFR Supplement. Transient aircrews deploying<br />

into Peterson AFB (KCOS) should submit written requests to the<br />

airfield management office at least 30 days prior to requested inplace<br />

date. Letter should, as a minimum, contain the following:<br />

Number of aircraft being deployed, number of people, square<br />

footage for hangar and office space, flying schedule, refueling<br />

requirements, transportation and billeting requirements, security<br />

and classified storage requirements, any special handling<br />

requirements, i.e., hazardous cargo or explosives/armament, and<br />

purpose of the deployment. Mail letter to: 21 OSS/OSA, 125 W<br />

Hamilton Ave, Ste 121, Peterson AFB (KCOS), CO 80914-1490.<br />

(Send preliminary fax to: DSN 834-8160, C719-556-8160).<br />

j. Expect increased bird activity during Phase II migratory<br />

season 1 October-31 March. Peterson (KCOS) is on the migratory<br />

path for Canadian geese during this time. Peterson Bird Watch<br />

Conditions are as follows:<br />

SEVERE - High bird population on or immediately above the active<br />

runway(s) or other specific locations that represent a high potential<br />

for strike.<br />

MODERATE - Increased bird population in locations which<br />

represent an increased potential for strike. <strong>The</strong> condition requires<br />

increased vigilance by all agencies and supervisors and caution by<br />

aircrews.<br />

LOW - Normal bird activity on and above the airfield with a low<br />

probability of hazard.<br />

k. Airfield Management Operations (AMO) has no classified<br />

storage capability. All classified must be stored at separate base<br />

facilities. AMO will arrange transportation for all aircrew members<br />

in need of a storage facility.<br />

l. Engine running On-loads/Off-loads (ERO) and Operations<br />

Stop (OPS STOP) procedures:<br />

(1) Authorized for space required passengers only.<br />

(2) 48 hours prior notice for large framed aircraft ERO’s<br />

(i.e. P-3, C-130, C-5, C-17, KC-10, etc.). Coordinate through<br />

Airfield Management Operations (AMO), DSN 834-4778/9.)<br />

(3) C-12 and C-21 Ops Stops provided based on<br />

available transient alert manning. Ops Stops conducted IAW<br />

applicable ACFT-1 checklists. Coordinate through 21SW/CCP,<br />

DSN 834-4225/6.<br />

m. Peterson AFB (KCOS) flightline is a no-smoking area.<br />

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas. Aircrew<br />

commander is to ensure all personnel are aware of this policy.<br />

8. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES -<br />

a. HOT BRAKES - <strong>The</strong> Colorado Springs (KCOS) ATC tower<br />

shall direct aircraft believed to have hot brakes to a predesignated<br />

area.<br />

b. HOT SECONDARY ARMAMENT - <strong>The</strong> Colorado Springs<br />

(KCOS) ATC tower shall direct aircraft that have hot secondary<br />

armament to a predesignated area.<br />

c. HYDRAZINE PRECAUTIONS FOR F-16 AIRCRAFT - <strong>The</strong><br />

Colorado Springs (KCOS) ATC tower shall direct aircraft requiring<br />

hydrazine precautions to park in a predesignated area.<br />

d. HAZARDO<strong>US</strong> CARGO - Hazardous cargo is restricted in<br />

accordance with <strong>US</strong> IFR Supplement entry. <strong>The</strong> Colorado Springs<br />

(KCOS) ATC tower shall direct any aircraft reported to have<br />

explosive cargo or hung bombs on board to the midpoint of<br />

Taxiway Delta. Multiple aircraft loadings accomplished by hand<br />

only. Single aircraft loading for operations utilizing mechanical<br />

equipment.<br />

e. Peterson jettison external/internal storage tanks area,<br />

fuel dumping and controlled bailout area is R2601 Fort Carson<br />

Artillery Range. Jettison area is off the BRK R-187 at 20-24 DME.<br />

Maintain communications with the Colorado Springs (KCOS)<br />

Control Tower at all times. In the event communications cannot be<br />

established or maintained, jettison must not be done and aircraft<br />

will not remain in R2601.<br />

(AFFSA/AFFSA)<br />

Columbus AFB (KCBM), MS<br />

1. Expect 30 minute landing delay during student flying<br />

periods. Limited service for other than T-37, T-38 and T-1 aircraft.<br />

All fixed wing aircraft plan to arrive, terminate and depart in<br />

accordance with IFR unless prior approval received for VFR flight<br />

plan. Expect ILS full stop landing to Rwy 13C-31C when local<br />

student training is in progress. However, RAPCON will approve<br />

multiple ILS/localizer approaches on a workload permitting basis.<br />

Extremely limited parking for aircraft exceeding 100,000 pounds<br />

GWT except Air Evacuation. Limited parking for aircraft in excess<br />

of 50,000 pounds GWT. No towing capability for large aircraft.<br />

No on/off loading capability for heavy tow bars. Expect 1 hour<br />

refueling delay. No drag chutes or repack service available.<br />

Simulated Flame Outs (SFO) are not authorized. Quiet hours in<br />

effect daily 0400-1200Z++, no departures, low approaches or<br />

unsuppressed engine runs.<br />

2. High density student jet training within 80 NM radius of<br />

Columbus (KCBM) to FL280 Monday-Friday sunrise to sunset and<br />

occasionally nights and weekends. Intensive VFR jet training<br />

conducted within 15 NM radius of Columbus to 3500’ and within<br />

5 NM radius of Columbus AFB Auxiliary Airfield (1MS8) (43 NM S<br />

of Columbus (KCBM)) to 3500’. Numerous practice instrument<br />

approaches within 15 NM of Columbus (KCBM) to 4000’. Contact<br />

Columbus (KCBM) Approach Control for advisories.<br />
