7.4.3. Grouped Alarms<br />

Alarms can be associated with different aspects of the process. They are grouped in<br />

accordance with the functions they perform as follows:<br />

Loop Alarms<br />

PV Input Alarms<br />

Analogue Input<br />

Alarms<br />

Module Alarms<br />

User Alarms<br />

Alarms associated with each control loop. Examples are: High,<br />

Low, Deviation <strong>and</strong> Rate of Change. Two alarms are available for<br />

each loop. On a new <strong>controller</strong> these are the only alarms which are<br />

configured - those listed below must be enabled in configuration<br />

level, see Engineering H<strong>and</strong>book HA026761.<br />

Alarms which operate on the PV input. Examples are: High <strong>and</strong><br />

Low. Two alarms are available with this input.<br />

Alarms which operate on the analogue input. Examples are: High<br />

<strong>and</strong> Low. Two alarms are available with this input.<br />

Alarms which operate on each plug in module. These can be input<br />

or output alarms depending upon the function of the module fitted.<br />

These alarms are associated with modules 1, 3, 4, 5, & 6, since<br />

module 2 is reserved as a an extra memory module<br />

Eight undedicated alarms which can be wired to any variable.<br />
