17. Chapter 17 St<strong>and</strong>ard IO<br />

17.1. WHAT IS STANDARD IO?<br />

St<strong>and</strong>ard IO refers to the fixed Input/Output connections as listed in Table 17-1 below.<br />

Parameters such as input/output limits, filter times <strong>and</strong> scaling of the IO can be adjusted in<br />

the St<strong>and</strong>ard IO pages.<br />

1. Scale the <strong>controller</strong> to your reference st<strong>and</strong>ards<br />

2. Match the calibration of the <strong>controller</strong> to an individual transducer or sensor<br />

3. To compensate for known offsets in process measurements<br />

These offsets can be made to parameters in the St<strong>and</strong>ard IO pages.<br />

Allows access to parameters which set up the fixed<br />

Process Variable Input connected to terminals VH,<br />

VI, V+ <strong>and</strong> V-. This is, generally, the PV input for a<br />

single loop <strong>controller</strong>.<br />

Allows access to parameters which set up the fixed<br />

Analogue Input connected to terminals BA, BB <strong>and</strong><br />

BC. This is the high level input from a remote<br />

source.<br />

Allows access to parameters which set up the fixed<br />

Relay output connected to terminals AA, AB <strong>and</strong><br />

AC. This relay may be used as an alarm relay. a<br />

time proportioning control output or valve<br />

Allows access to parameters which set up the fixed<br />

digital IO connected to terminals D1 to D7 <strong>and</strong> DC.<br />

Allows access to parameters which set up the fixed<br />

digital Input connected to terminal D8 <strong>and</strong> DC.<br />

This chapter also describes User Scaling of the st<strong>and</strong>ard IO.<br />

The <strong>controller</strong> is calibrated for life against known reference st<strong>and</strong>ards during manufacture,<br />

but user scaling allows you to offset the ‘permanent’ factory calibration to either:-<br />
