“To be the leading, people centered municipality excelling in economic growth, development and governance”Another key consideration is to consider prioritising the vulnerable groups in the housing delivery projects andthese groups include groups such as the women, youth, disabled and the aged headed households, and theHIV/AIDS affected and infected households.Housing ProjectsThe list that follows below is a compilation of a number of projects that the municipality will need to facilitatetheir implementation as a means of elevating the importance of the housing sector in general and reducing thehousing backlog in particular.The household backlog according to the IDP is 18 207. The houses delivered from 1995 to date is 3 116 basedon the information from the IDP and the one in the Housing Department of the Municipality. Therefore theremaining backlog is 15 091. Houses planned for 2008/2009 is 3 374. In order to achieve the objective ofSustainable Integrated Human Settlements, community facilities have to be considered. There are no private sector investors for now except that it isanticipated that the economic development that should be facilitated in the municipality should be able touplift people so that in future they should be able to afford housing for on their own.The estimations above exclude budget estimations for other social amenities which would ensure that theintegrated sustainable settlements are achieved.
