Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle bodyand cable bracket.Caution: When disconnecting the speed control connectorat the throttle body, DO NOT pry the connector off withpliers or screwdriver. Use finger pressure only. Prying theconnector off could break it.8. Disconnect the speed control and transmission linepressure cable from the throttle body and cable bracket(if equipped).9.Disconnect the following electrical connectors. Pullthe harnesses away from the manifold.Throttle Position SensorIdle Air Control motorCoolant Temperature Sensor at the thermostathousingManifold Air Temperature sensor at the intakemanifoldFuel injector(s)0 Oxygen (0,) sensor10. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation (CCV) vacuumhose and Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor vacuumhose connector at the intake manifold.11. Disconnect HVAC supply vacuum hose from theintake manifold.12. Disconnect the CCV hose at the cylinder head cover(Figure 2-84).13. Remove the molded vacuum harness.14. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster hose at theintake manifold.15. Remove bolts 2 through 5 securing the intake manifoldto the cylinder head (Figure 2-85). Loosen but DO NOTremove exhaust manifold bolt No. 1 and nuts 6 and 7.16. Remove the intake manifold and gaskets. DO NOT allow foreign material to enter eitherthe intake manifold or the ports in the cylinder head.Install the new intake manifold gasket over the locatingdowels.Position the manifold in place and finger-tighten themounting bolts.Tighten the fasteners in sequence and to the specifiedtorque (Figure 2-85).Fastener No. I-Tighten to 41 Nom (30 ft-lbs)torque.Fastener No. 2 through No. 7-Tighten to 31 Nom(23 ft-lbs) torque.Before connecting the fuel line to the fuel rail, inspectthe fuel line O-rings and replace them if necessary.Connect the fuel supply tube to the fuel rail inlet. Pushtube until a click is heard.Pull on fuel supply line to verify that it is properlyconnected.
