4.7L POWER TECH V-8 363Camshaft position sensor signalBattery voltageParWneutral switch (gear indicator signal - automatictransmission only)0 Oxygen (0,) sensorsBased on these inputs, the following occurs:Voltage is applied to the fuel injectors with the ASDrelay via the PCM. The PCM will then controlinjection sequence and injector pulse width by turningthe ground circuit to each individual injector and offand on.The PCM monitors the 0, sensor input and adjusts airfuelratio by varying injector pulse width. It alsoadjusts engine idle speed through the idle air control(IAC) motor.The PCM adjusts ignition timing by increasing ordecreasing spark advance.The PCM operates the N C compressor clutch throughthe clutch relay. This happens if N C has been selected bythe vehicle operator and requested by the N C thermostat.Cruise ModeWhen the engine is at operating temperature, this is aClosed Loop mode. At cruising speed, the PCM receivesinputs from:Air conditioning select signal (if equipped)Air conditioning request signal (if equipped)Battery voltage0 Engine coolant temperature sensorCrankshaft position sensorIntake manifold air temperature sensorManifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensorThrottle position sensor (TPS)Camshaft position sensor signalParWneutral switch (gear indicator signal -automatictransmission only)Oxygen (0,) sensorsBased on these inputs, the following occurs:Voltage is applied to the fuel injectors with the ASDrelay via the PCM. The PCM recognizes an abruptincrease in throttle position or MAP pressure as a demandfor increased engine output and vehicle acceleration. ThePCM increases injector pulse width in response toincreased throttle openingDeceleration ModeWhen the engine is at operating temperature, this is anOpen Loop mode. During hard deceleration, the PCMreceives the following inputs.0Air conditioning select signal (if equipped)Air conditioning request signal (if equipped)Battery voltage0 Engine coolant temperature sensorCrankshaft position sensorIntake manifold air temperature sensorManifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensorThrottle position sensor (TPS)Camshaft position sensor signalParkheutral switch (gear indicator signal - automatictransmission only)0 Vehicle speedIf the vehicle is under hard deceleration with the proper rpmand closed throttle conditions, the PCM will ignore theoxygen sensor input signal. The PCM will enter a fuel cut-offstrategy in which it will not supply a ground to the injectors.If a hard deceleration does not exist, the PCM will determinethe proper injector pulse width and continue injection.Based on the above inputs, the PCM will adjust engine idlespeed through the idle air control (IAC) motor.The PCM adjusts ignition timing by turning the groundpath to the coil on and off.Wide Open Throttle ModeThis is an Open Loop mode. During wide open throttleoperation, the PCM receives the following inputs.0 Battery voltageCrankshaft position sensorEngine coolant temperature sensor
