(Refer tothe proper service manual for correct procedure,)Disconnect and remove the fuel system supply linefrom the fuel rail assembly. (Refer to the proper servicemanual for correct procedure,)Loosen the accessory drive belt and tensioner. (Referto the proper service manual for correct procedure.)10. Remove the power steering pump and bracket from theintake manifold and set aside.11. Raise the vehicle.12. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the engine exhaustmanifold. Discard the seal.13. Lower the vehicle.14. Remove the intake manifold and engine exhaustmanifold.InstallationIf the manifold is being replaced, ensure all fittings, etc., aretransferred to the replacement manifold.1.2.3.4.5.6.Install a new engine exhausthntake manifold gasketover the alignment dowels on the cylinder head.Position the engine exhaust manifold to the cylinderhead. Install fastener Number 3 and finger tighten atthis time (Figure 4-48).Install intake manifold on the cylinder head dowels.Install washer and fastener Numbers I, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, IOand 11 (Figure 4-48).Install washer and fastener Numbers 6 and 7(Figure 4-48).Tighten the fasteners in sequence and to the specifiedtorque (Figure 4-48):Fastener Numbers 1 through 5 - Tighten to 33 Nom(24 ft-lbs) torque.Fastener Numbers 6 and 7 - Tighten to 31 Nom(23 ft-lbs) torque.Fastener Numbers 8 through II - Tighten to 33Nom (23 ft-lbs) torque.7.8.9.IO.11.12.13.Install the power steering pump and bracket to the intakemanifold. Tighten the belt to specification. (Refer to theproper service manual for correct procedure.)Install the fuel system supply line to the fuel rail assembly.Before connecting the fuel supply line to the fuel railinspect the O-rings and replace if necessary. (Refer to theproper service manual for correct procedure.)Connect all electrical connections on the intake manifold.Connect the vacuum hoses previously removed.Install the throttle cable and vehicle speed controlcable (if equipped).Install the transmission line pressure cable (if equipped).(Refer to the proper service manual for correctprocedure.)Install air cleaner assembly.1 ‘I. Connect air inlet hose to the throttle body assembly.15. Raise the vehicle.16. Using a new exhaust manifold seal, connect theexhaust pipe to the engine exhaust manifold. Tighten -the bolts-to 3 1 Nom (23 ft-lbs).1.7. Lower the vehicle.18. Connect the battery negative cable.19.
