We post for ignition, intake manifolds,rocker arms, valve covers, etc. Our fellow OEMs tend topost only for the body (if they post at all). We also post forthe body when they do. So why is there an engine assemblyposting? Because it is the highest payout in the contingencyprogram. In addition to Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge, we alsopay for AMCs, Jeeps, and DeSotos! The reason we do thisis to reward our racers for racing a DaimlerChrysler/Moparproduct. Other racers with different brands can’t get it.Another reason -let’s assume there are five JeepComanches in the same class. We can’t sponsor all of thembecause there isn’t enough money. If we sponsor one, theother four get mad! Contingency solves this problem. Thatis how DaimlerChryslerhIopar got into the contingencyprogram in the first place. We used it to replacesponsorships in the mid- 1970s. It has worked very well inhelping reward our racers over the past twenty-five years.Mopar Performance Parts Contingency ProgramContingency programs are offered by automotivemanufacturers for the use of their products. Theseautomotive manufacturers may produce assembledvehicles, such as DaimlerChrysler, or aftermarket parts,such as Holley and Crane. Most aftermarket partsmanufacturers are members of SEMA (SpecialtyEquipment Marketing Association), as Mopar PerformanceParts is. In 1999, Mopar posted over $I million dollars incontingency money to drag racers alone!How does it work? Easy! Run one or more of the eligibleMopar Performance parts in your race vehicle and have theappropriate Mopar Performance Parts decal on yourvehicle. If you’re a winner or runner-up in your class, thesanctioning body will inspect your vehicle and forward theappropriate information to the Mopar Performance PartsContingency Payout Center. A check will be in your handsless than 30 days after the event.
