Oil from the oil pan is pumped by ageroter-type oil pump directly mounted to the crankshaftnose. Oil pressure is controlled by a relief valve mountedinside the oil pump housing. For lubrication flow refer toEngine Lubrication Flow Chart- Block: Table I, andEngine Lubrication Flow Chart- Cylinder Heuds: Table 2.The camshaft exhaust valve lobes and rocker arms arelubed through a small hole in the rocker arm. Oil flowsthrough the lash adjuster then through the rocker arm andonto the camshaft lobe. Due to the design of the rocker armconfiguration, the camshaft intake lobes are not lubed in thesame manner as the exhaust lobes. Intake lobes are lubedthrough internal passages in the camshaft. Oil flowsthrough a bore in the No. 3 camshaft bearing bore. As thecamshaft turns, a hole in the camshaft aligns with the holein the camshaft bore allowing engine oil to enter thecamshaft tube.
