T - T 7350 MOPAR PERFORMANCE PARTSEngine Oil ChangeChange engine oil at mileage and time intervals describedin Maintenance Schedules.Run engine until achieving normal operating temperature.1.2.3. Remove oil fill cap.4.5.6.7.Position the vehicle on a level surface and turn engine off.Hoist and support vehicle on safety stands.Place a suitable drain pan under crankcase drain.Remove drain plug from crankcase and allow oil todrain into pan. Inspect drain plug threads for stretchingor other damage. Replace drain plug if damaged.Install drain plug in crankcase.Lower vehicle and fill crankcase with specified typeand amount of engine oil described in this section.8. Install oil fill cap.9. Start engine and inspect for leaks.10. Stop engine and inspect oil level.Engine Oil Filter ChangeAll engines are equipped with a high quality, full-flow,disposable-type oil filter. DaimlerChrysler Corporationrecommends a Mopar or equivalent oil filter be used.1. Oil Filter Removala. Position a drain pan under the oil filter.b. Using a suitable oil filter wrench, loosen filter.c. Rotate the oil filter (Figure 6-9) counterclockwiseto remove it from the cylinder block oil filter boss.d. When filter separates from adapter nipple, tipgasket end upward to minimize oil spill. Removefilter from vehicle.e. With a wiping cloth, clean the gasket sealingsurface (Figure 4-39) of oil and grime.2. Oil Filter Installationa. Lightly lubricate oil filter gasket with engine oil.b.c.Thread filter onto adapter nipple. When gasket makescontact with sealing surface (Figure 4-39), handtighten filter one full tum. DO NOT over tighten.Add oil, verify crankcase oil level and start engine.Inspect for oil leaks.IOil PanFigure 6 - 9ac476t01The engine oil pan is made of laminated steel and has asingle plane sealing surface. The sandwich style oil pangasket has an integrated windage tray and steal carrier. Thesealing area of the gasket is molded with rubber and isdesigned to be reused as long as the gasket is not cut, tomor ripped.COOLING SYSTEM(Refer to Figure 6-10 and Figure 6- 1 1 .)Caution: Vehicle may be equipped with long life coolant.Extended life coolant is identified by an orange color.Nonnal coolant is identified by a greenish color. It isrecommended that the two types of coolant not be mixed. The cooling system regulates engine operating temperature. It allows the engine to reach normal operating temperatureas quickly as possible. It also maintains normal operatingtemperature and prevents overheating. The cooling system also provides a means of heating thepassenger compartment and cooling the automatictransmission fluid (if equipped). The cooling system ispressurized and uses a centrifugal water pump to circulatecoolant throughout the system.Vehicles equipped with the 4.7L engine receive a “max”cooling package which consists of a heavy duty radiator, alow disengaged fan viscous fan drive and an mechanicalcooling fan. This package will provide additional coolingcapacity for vehicles used under extreme conditions such astrailer towing in high ambient temperatures.
