The 2.46L In-Line 4 cylinderengine is also covered, but because of the limited numberof performance parts available, it is discussed only briefly.We have also included a special chapter which highlightsour new all-aluminum 4.7L V-8 engine that debuted in1999. This new engine is certain to play an important rolein our future Jeep performance parts program. They will be glad to help you any way they can.Jeep Engines-3rd Edition is divided into nine distinctchapters, as follows:Chapter 1: Jeep HistoryChapter 1 presents a brief history of Jeep, from the early1940s through today. However, because this chapter couldeasily fill an entire book of its own, not every event orperson involved in the Jeep program is discussed.Because so much information has already been publishedregarding the history of Jeep, we chose to include lesserknowninformation that could only come fromDaimlerChrysler. Photographs from deep within ourarchives highlight this history of arguably the mostsuccessful off-road vehicles ever built.Chapter 2: 2.5L Power Tech In-Line 4Chapter 2 is the most comprehensive and detaileddiscussion of the 2.5L Power Tech In-Line 4 cylinderengine ever published by DaimlerChrysler. Both race-onlyand dual purpose engine build-up strategies andperformance modifications are covered. The information ispresented along with hundreds of detailed figures,photographs, tables, and charts. When used in conjunctionwith the appropriate service manual, this chapter providesthe most up-to-date technical information on the 2.5Lengine available anywhere.Please note that much of the information contained inChapter 4 is generic to all Jeep performance engines.Therefore, in addition to this chapter, 2.5L engine ownersshould read Chapter 4 in its entirety. The appropriateservice manual should also be consulted.Chapter 3: 2.46L In-Line 4Chapter 3 presents a summary of selected features of the2.461, In-Line 4 cylinder engine. Due to the limited numberof performance parts available, the chapter is very brief.However, much of the information contained in Chapter 2applies directly to the 2.46L engine. In addition, much ofthe information contained in Chapter 4 is generic to all Jeepperformance engines. Therefore, in addition to this chapter,2.46L engine owners should read Chapters 2 and 4 in theirentirety. The appropriate service manual should also beconsulted.
