36 MOPAR PERFORMANCE PARTS10. Rotate the crankshaft after tightening each mainbearing cap to ensure the crankshaft rotates freely.11. Check crankshaft end play. Refer to Crankshaft EndPlay, in this section, for the procedure.12. If the crankshaft was removed, install the crankshaftinto the cylinder block.13. Install the oil pan.14. Install the drain plug. Tighten the plug to 34 N-m(25 ft-lbs) torque.15. Install new rear main seal.16. Lower the vehicle.17. Install the spark plugs. Tighten the plugs to 37 N-m(27 ft-lbs) torque.18. Fill the oil pan with engine oil to the safe mark onthe dipstick.19. Connect the battery negative cable.5. If end play is not within specification, inspect crankshaftthrust faces for wear. If no wear is apparent, replace thethrust bearing and measure end play. Note the dialindicator readings. End play is the difference betweenthe high and low measurements (Figure 2-18). Correctend play is 0.038 to 0.165 mm (0.0015 to 0.0065").The desired specifications are 0.051 to 0.064 mm(0.002 to 0.0025").Installation1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.Install the damper on the lower bracket with the lowerinner retainer and bushing in place.Install the upper inner retainer and bushing on the topof the damper.Position the upper damper bracket over the damper andinstall the stud nut and bolts.Tighten the stud nut to 23 N*m (17 ft-lbs) torque andtighten the bracket bolts to 61 N-m (45 ft-lbs) torque.Install the bushing, upper outer retainer and damper nut.Install the bushing, lower outer retainer and damper nut.Tighten the upper and lower damper nuts.Connect the battery negative cable.
