Remove the cover alignment tool and position areplacement oil seal on the tool with the seal lip facingoutward. Apply a light film of Perfect Seal orequivalent on the outside diameter of the seal. Lightlycoat the crankshaft with engine oil.11. Position the tool and seal over the end of the crankshaftand insert a draw screw tool into the seal installationtool (Figure 2-23).12. Tighten the nut against the tool until it contacts the cover.13. Remove the tool and apply a light film of engine oil onthe vibration damper hub contact surface of the seal.14. With the key inserted in the keyway in the crankshaft,install the vibration damper, washer and bolt. Lubricateand tighten the bolt to 108 Nom (80 ft-lbs) torque.15. Install the crankshaft pulley. If equipped with aserpentine drive, the pulley is integral with the damperand they are installed as a unit. Tighten the bolts to 27Nom (20 ft-lbs) torque.16. Install the A/C compressor (if equipped) and thealternator bracket assembly.17. Install the engine fan and hub assembly and shroud.18. Install the drive belt(s) and tighten to obtain thespecified tension.19. Connect the battery negative cable.I. Install a new seal in the timing case cover using a sealinstal 1 ati on tool (Figure 2-22).2.3.4.5.Apply sealing compound (Mopar Gasket-in-a-Tube, orequivalent) to both sides of the replacement timingcase cover gasket and position the gasket on thecylinder block.Cut the end tabs off the replacement oil pan sidegaskets corresponding to those cut off the originalgasket (Figure 2-21). Attach the end tabs to the oil panwith cement.Coat the front cover seal end tab recesses generously withRTV sealant (Mopar Gasket-in-a-Tube, or equivalent)and position the seal on the timing case cover.Apply engine oil to the seal-to-oil pan contact surface.
