1 st WorkshopXIII International Feed Technology SymposiumAddition of zeolites in poultry feed contaminated with different mycotoxins effectivelyreduces and prevents pathomorphologic changes to target tissues. Also, there is asignificant reduction of residue in edible tissues of meat and eggs (Radović 2003,Sinovec et al., 2003). Furthermore, the application of zeolytes in the poultry feed haspositive effects on production results, diminishing the mortality, good health conditionsand improving the quality of meat and eggs (Radović et al. 2001).Zeolite minerals in inorganic form adsorb more polar mycotoxins such as aflatoxins andergot alkaloids and do not absorb vitamins, microelements and amino-acids, thus notleaving any residues in meat and eggs. Min-a-Zel is one of the products based on naturalzeolite with a well balanced relationship of interchangeable cations Ca / Na / K. Min-a-Zel Plus is another product developed by modifying the surface of zeolite using organiccations (Daković et al., 2001, Lemke et al., 1998, Tomašević-Čanović et al., 2003).The goal of this research was to compare the influence of different types and levels ofmineral adsorbents on the production and slaughtering characteristics of broiler feeding, and the criteria for determining this influence included: increase in body mass, healthstate and mortality of chickens, production index, dressing.MATERIAL AND METHODSOne day old chickens of breed COBB 500 were sampled as experimental material for theanalysis of production characteristics of chickens and the effect of mineral adsorbentszeoliteson them. In the experiment, chickens were held inside of the floor system andfed in groups, with a nutritional mixture that had the same raw material and chemicalcomposition (Table 1). The only difference was the type and level of added zeolite in thefeed.Table 1.
