Getting Audio into Pyramix Virtual StudioCheck SyncThere are two basic methods of getting audio into Pyramix initially: you can record audio directly into the program,or you can import previously existing audio files. Please see also: Digitizing Sessions on page 107Before attempting to record any audio please check Pyramix and the audio source(s) are synchronized as youintend.I/O Status WindowThe I/O status window can be opened by clicking in the Sync: xxxxx section of the Status bar (bottom right of themain Pyramix window. (the XXX’s are the current sync source)This window shows useful information about the input and synchronization status of Pyramix.Input sourcesI/O Status windowAll the possible input sources are shown, each with an associated red and a green light. The green lights show thepresence of a valid digital signal (This does not necessarily mean, that the sampling rate of this input matches thecurrent clock source of Pyramix). When the red light is on and steady, Pyramix is using this input as it’s clock referenceand is successfully locked up.Default Clock SourceIf Pyramix is set up to lock to an external clock source but cannot get a valid signal from this source, it will switch toInternal clock. In this case the red light associated with Internal will be on, and the red light associated with theintended clock source will be blinking.Sampling Rate MismatchIf Pyramix is set up to lock to an external clock source and the sampling rate set in the Virtual Studio Mixer doesnot match the sampling rate of the clock source, the green light associated with the clock source will be on, butthe red light will be blinking showing the sampling rate mismatch.File Format and Disk LimitationsFile Size LimitationsBy design legacy SD2, WAV or BWF files are limited to a maximum of 2GB due to their 32bit signed addressing(thus 31 available bits) formats, while 32bits unsigned addressing AIF files are limited to 4GB. Please keep this inmind when recording and/or exporting to any of these formats, the 2GB/4GB limit might in fact be quite close, particularly when working with high sample rate multitrack files.Recording and Acquisition : Getting Audio into Pyramix Virtual Studio 7 - 102
