S<strong>up</strong>er<strong>in</strong>tendent’s Recommendation:Item NumberThat the School Board of Sem<strong>in</strong>ole <strong>County</strong> approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submittedby Welbro Build<strong>in</strong>g Corporation <strong>in</strong> the amount of $97,548 for High School Wireless Project andexecute Amendment No. 6 to the construction manager’s current contract agreement.2. <strong>Back</strong>ground/Analysis:On April 28, 2009, the school board approved a contract with Welbro Build<strong>in</strong>g Corporation to provideconstruction management at risk services for district wide construction projects under $1,000,000.Welbro has submitted a GMP proposal of $97,548 to address the wireless network data <strong>in</strong>frastructureat five high schools <strong>in</strong> the district.The scope of work <strong>in</strong>cludes but is <strong>not</strong> limited to <strong>in</strong>stallation of wireless networks <strong>in</strong> Hagerty, W<strong>in</strong>terSpr<strong>in</strong>gs, Lake Brantley, Lake Howell, Lyman and Lake Mary high schools to <strong>in</strong>clude: all accesspo<strong>in</strong>ts, Cat5e cabl<strong>in</strong>g, patch cords, wire term<strong>in</strong>ations, impact cages, and fire rated wall penetrations. Inorder to expedite construction and disr<strong>up</strong>tion dur<strong>in</strong>g the school day, the work is required to beconstructed and operational prior to student return on August 15, 2011 and will commenceimmediately <strong>up</strong>on board approval.This project was <strong>in</strong>itiated to comply with the state mandate for computer based test<strong>in</strong>g and thenecessary <strong>in</strong>terven<strong>in</strong>g benchmark test<strong>in</strong>g. The wireless network will also facilitate <strong>in</strong>struction dur<strong>in</strong>gthe school year and the imm<strong>in</strong>ent move to onl<strong>in</strong>e text<strong>book</strong>s.The Facilities staff concur that the proposed cost is fair and reasonable and accurately reflects thework necessary to provide wireless connectivity <strong>in</strong>frastructure to the District High <strong>Schools</strong>.3.
