Threat/Intimidation (S) – the act of coerc<strong>in</strong>g, or mak<strong>in</strong>g a<strong>not</strong>her person fearful of be<strong>in</strong>g harmed by declarationof <strong>in</strong>tent through words (oral, written, electronic, or symbolic) or acts to do violence to a<strong>not</strong>her person or tohis/her property.Note:Pursuant to Florida Statute 836.10 it is a second-degree felony for a person to communicate a writtenthreat to do bodily harm to a<strong>not</strong>her person.Tobacco Products Violation (S) - possess<strong>in</strong>g, us<strong>in</strong>g, sell<strong>in</strong>g, stor<strong>in</strong>g, or distribut<strong>in</strong>g cigarettes, cigars, snuff, dip,pipe tobacco, and/or chew<strong>in</strong>g tobacco.Note:Note:Pursuant to Florida Statute 386.212 it is unlawful for any person less than 18 years of age to smoketobacco <strong>in</strong>, on, or with<strong>in</strong> 1,000 feet of a public school. Monetary f<strong>in</strong>es, community services, andrevocation of driv<strong>in</strong>g privileges may be imposed for a violation of this law.Pursuant to Florida Statute 569.11 it is unlawful for anyone under the age of 18 to be <strong>in</strong> possession oftobacco products. Monetary f<strong>in</strong>es, community services, and revocation of driv<strong>in</strong>g privileges may beimposed for a violation of this law.Trespass<strong>in</strong>g (S) - the unauthorized entry onto School Board owned property, <strong>in</strong>to a school function, or an extracurricularactivity, or rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g on School Board owned property after be<strong>in</strong>g directed to leave that location by aschool staff member or law enforcement official or while subject to suspension, expulsion, or assignment to thedistrict alternative school or a<strong>not</strong>her alternative placement.Unauthorized Area - be<strong>in</strong>g present <strong>in</strong> build<strong>in</strong>gs, rooms, or other areas on a school campus restricted or <strong>not</strong> opento student access dur<strong>in</strong>g all or portions of a day.Unauthorized Assembly - be<strong>in</strong>g present at unapproved student gather<strong>in</strong>gs, meet<strong>in</strong>gs, demonstrations, or protestswhich <strong>in</strong>terfere with the orderly process of the school environment, or which <strong>in</strong>terr<strong>up</strong>ts a school function or anextracurricular activity.Unauthorized Items - the possession or storage of items that have the potential of <strong>in</strong>terfer<strong>in</strong>g with teach<strong>in</strong>g orlearn<strong>in</strong>g, such as, but <strong>not</strong> limited to: skates, skateboards, radios, toys, video games, over the counter stimulants,as well as items or merchandise brought to school without adm<strong>in</strong>istrative authorization for the purpose of sale ordistribution.Unauthorized Publication - the unapproved post<strong>in</strong>g or distribution of pr<strong>in</strong>ted words, petitions, electronicmessages, or graphic representations as set out <strong>in</strong> School Board policy.Unsafe Act - engag<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> any act which compromises the health or safety of an <strong>in</strong>dividual <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g, but <strong>not</strong>limited to, recklessness, push<strong>in</strong>g, shov<strong>in</strong>g, hitt<strong>in</strong>g, kick<strong>in</strong>g, or slapp<strong>in</strong>g.Vandalism (S) - willfully defac<strong>in</strong>g, damag<strong>in</strong>g or destroy<strong>in</strong>g by any means the real or personal property belong<strong>in</strong>gto the School Board or to a<strong>not</strong>her person. This def<strong>in</strong>ition <strong>in</strong>cludes graffiti, as well as the malicious attempt toharm or destroy electronic data.Vehicle/Park<strong>in</strong>g Violation – failure to follow established rules and regulations concern<strong>in</strong>g the privilege ofdriv<strong>in</strong>g and park<strong>in</strong>g vehicles on a school campus.Weapons Violation/Possession (S) - possess<strong>in</strong>g, stor<strong>in</strong>g, distribut<strong>in</strong>g, sell<strong>in</strong>g, or purchas<strong>in</strong>g any <strong>in</strong>strument orobject that may <strong>in</strong>flict harm on a<strong>not</strong>her person, or be used to <strong>in</strong>timidate a<strong>not</strong>her person, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g, but <strong>not</strong> limitedto: fixed blade knives, fold<strong>in</strong>g knives, switch blade knives, common pocket knives, razor blades, box cutters,sharp cutt<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>struments, ice picks, dirks, cha<strong>in</strong>s, pipes, nunchakus, brass knuckles, Ch<strong>in</strong>ese stars, billy clubs,chemical irritants, mace, tear gas, pepper spray, poisonous gases, sl<strong>in</strong>g shots, electrical weapons or devices,starter pistols, stun guns, BB or pellet guns, propellants, and "look-alike" weapons.Zero Tolerance – as here<strong>in</strong> def<strong>in</strong>ed and as def<strong>in</strong>ed to School Board policy.10Page 543
