S<strong>up</strong>er<strong>in</strong>tendent’s Recommendation:Item NumberThat the School Board of Sem<strong>in</strong>ole <strong>County</strong> approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submittedby Welbro Build<strong>in</strong>g Corporation <strong>in</strong> the amount of $111,545 for Woodlands Elementary School FireMa<strong>in</strong> Project and execute Amendment No. 5 to the construction manager’s current contractagreement.2. <strong>Back</strong>ground/Analysis:On April 28, 2009, the school board approved the contract with Welbro Build<strong>in</strong>g Corporation to provideconstruction management at risk services for district wide construction projects under $1,000,000.Welbro has submitted a GMP proposal of $111,545 to address the low water pressure s<strong>up</strong>ply to theexist<strong>in</strong>g fire hydrant at Woodlands Elementary School.The scope of work <strong>in</strong>cludes but <strong>not</strong> limited to: <strong>in</strong>stall<strong>in</strong>g 8” fire ma<strong>in</strong> water s<strong>up</strong>ply pip<strong>in</strong>g, additional firehydrant, and relocate exist<strong>in</strong>g fire hydrant. The work will start immediately <strong>up</strong>on board approval withsubstantial completion August 5, 2011.The Facilities staff and the Civil Consultant Bentley Architects concur that the proposed cost is fair andreasonable and accurately reflects the work necessary to <strong>in</strong>crease water pressure to the site fires<strong>up</strong>pression system and comply with current fire safety standards.3.
