The ultimate capacity is usually the maximum capacity schoolof that type based on applicable district policies (facilities lists). The establishment of anultimate desirable capacity makes it possible to plan the <strong>in</strong>itial construction with<strong>in</strong> theframework of the ultimate size school–mean<strong>in</strong>g, build<strong>in</strong>g core facilities such as media,cafeteria, adm<strong>in</strong>istration, circulation, and other auxiliary spaces to the full school size andthen add<strong>in</strong>g classrooms as the student population projections <strong>in</strong>crease to a level thatwarrants additional classroom space.NOTE: Educational plant survey COFTE student projections are determ<strong>in</strong>ed by the Office ofEconomic and Demographic Research (EDR). Each five-year survey is based on COFTEprojections that are five (5) full years from the official beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of the survey period, which isJuly 1 of the first full year of the survey.* Use of State andLocal Funds forRecommendedFacilities:The recommendations made <strong>in</strong> the survey report are <strong>in</strong>tended, <strong>in</strong> total, to provide adequatefacilities for all of the students projected to be enrolled with<strong>in</strong> the 5-year survey period.
