(3) LOWER GARMENTS(a) Pants and shorts shouldconform to the build and stature ofthe students.(b) Undergarments and thebuttocks MUST rema<strong>in</strong> entirelycovered even while seated.(4) FOOTWEAR(a) All students shall wearshoes/footwear. Students must wearshoes that are safe and appropriatefor the learn<strong>in</strong>g environment.Students must wear athletic shoes <strong>in</strong>all PE classes and/or outdooractivities(5) ACCESSORIES(a) Cloth<strong>in</strong>g, jewelry, andaccessories shall <strong>not</strong> conveymessages that are: crude,vulgar/profane, violent/deathoriented,gang related, sexuallysuggestive, promote alcohol, drugsor tobacco.(c) Dresses, skirts and shortsmust be at least mid-thigh orbelow <strong>in</strong> length. Rip/tearsabove mid-thigh that exposesk<strong>in</strong> or undergarments are <strong>not</strong>permitted(d) The waistband of pants,shorts or skirts must be wornand secured between the hipsand the waist.(b) Cleats, slippers and shoeswith wheels are <strong>not</strong> permittedto be worn on campus. Cleatsmay be worn for appropriateextracurricular sports <strong>in</strong>proper areas(b) Jewelry or accessoriesthat pose a safety concern forthe student or others areprohibited. Dog collars, walletcha<strong>in</strong>s, large hair picks orcha<strong>in</strong>s that connect one partof the body to a<strong>not</strong>her areprohibited.(e)Undergarments asouterwear, pajama pants,bath<strong>in</strong>g suits, cheer shorts,bike shorts and spandexmaterial bottoms areprohibited.RULES OF CONDUCT - TRANSPORTATIONFlorida Statute 1006.10 gives school bus drivers the authority to monitor and control the behavior of studentswhen they are on a school bus, when they are be<strong>in</strong>g transported to and from school or school functions at publicexpense, or when a school bus is present at a bus stop.Video Cameras on Buses: Video cameras with audio record<strong>in</strong>g capability have been <strong>in</strong>stalled on all Sem<strong>in</strong>ole<strong>County</strong> Public School Buses. Students may be filmed at any time dur<strong>in</strong>g their ride. The tapes may be utilized todeterm<strong>in</strong>e violations of the Student Conduct and Discipl<strong>in</strong>e Code. Violations of these standards, the StudentConduct and Discipl<strong>in</strong>e Code, or any action or behavior by a student(s) to substantially distract the driver andcauses or has the potential to cause a safety hazard on a mov<strong>in</strong>g bus, or while stationary, may be the basis forsuspension from bus/school and/or expulsion of bus rid<strong>in</strong>g privileges.Standards of Conduct for Rid<strong>in</strong>g a School Bus: Student conduct that distracts the driver, endangers the healthand safety of other students, or demonstrates a willful disregard for transportation rules shall be reported to thepr<strong>in</strong>cipal or pr<strong>in</strong>cipal's designee.The follow<strong>in</strong>g rules of conduct apply to students when the bus is present at the bus stop and when they are be<strong>in</strong>gtransported on a school bus:1. Students must be at the bus stop on time. The bus driver can<strong>not</strong> wait for those who are tardy.17Page 550
